Get To The Point Jackass

Dear Marketing Entrepreneur,

Yesterday we looked at a page I tore from one of the many publications I receive each and every month. Did you walk around and notice all the pathetic Marketing all around us each day?

Remember the question I ask when an Advertisement pops into my view?

"Quick, WHAT are they Selling?"

Yesterday we had an example of a confusing ad, let's see how quick you "get the point" in today's example. How quick do you recognize WHAT they are selling to you?





Long before you start examining the copy, positioning, headline, and logistics, if you are going to insert a picture, make sure you are crystal clear about the objective of that picture. Notice how the facial lines suck your eye right into the corner of the ad. "Gee whiz, Mr. Wilson, that's where the product name and packaging is." Hmmm.

Of course, I DO realize that many of you are doing a completely different type of business from your home typically, and will never run full page advertising space in any major magazine. But,
you sure as hell should be taking notes of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'm one of those weird folks out there who picks up much of the printed material in the marketplace, breezing right past the news or content, and heads straight for the best reading, in my opinion, the ads.
